(GREENFIELD) – May 20, 2024 – State Representative Tandy Darby (R-Greenfield) announced today he is seeking re-election to continue serving the 76th District of the Tennessee House of Representatives. Darby was originally elected to the General Assembly in 2020.
“It’s been my honor and privilege to serve District 76 these past four years. I have enjoyed taking your conservative values to Nashville, and I am eager to continue my work for another term. I look forward to running for re-election.” Darby said.
Since taking office in 2020, Tandy Darby has been dedicated to improving the lives of his constituents and advocating for conservative values that make Tennessee a great place to work and live.
Last year, Tandy was appointed vice-chairman of the Agriculture and Natural Resources Committee for the 113th General Assembly. This committee plays a crucial role in shaping agricultural policies and regulations. A farmer himself, Tandy is able to ensure that the best interests of farmers, ranches, and rural communities are represented in the legislative process. In addition to this role, Tandy serves on the Education Instruction Committee, Fiscal Review Committee, Transportation Committee, and several other subcommittees.
In his legislative endeavors, Tandy has initiated the process to ban a statewide property tax, advocating for fiscal responsibility and maintaining Tennessee’s reputation as a business-friendly state. This legislative effort, which he successfully advanced during the 113th General Assembly, underscores his unwavering commitment to keeping taxes low.
Tandy is also a strong advocate for Tennessee’s education system. In 2024, over $8.5 billion was invested in education, including major investments in childhood literacy programs, teacher pay raises, and school safety. This past year, he co-sponsored legislation focused on enhancing safety for elementary and secondary schools.
Tandy Darby lives in Greenfield with his wife, Kasi, and their three daughters, Tess, Edie, and Sloan. The Darby family is active in their community and are members of Bethel Baptist Church. Tandy is a lifelong Greenfield resident and has worked at Akin and Porter Produce for over twenty-five years. He can often be found watching Tess and Edie play basketball, both for the Lady Volunteers. Tandy attended the University of Tennessee at Martin on an athletic scholarship and obtained a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Business.
The 76th District includes all of Weakley County, and parts of Carroll and Henry County.
