(NASHVILLE) – February 3, 2021 — Representative Tandy Darby (R-Greenfield) made the following statement in regards to the announcement by Charter Communications that they will expand broadband to unserved communities through the Rural Digital Development Fund (RDOF). The initiative includes an $11.32 million investment to expand broadband to 7,829 households in Carroll, Obion, and Weakley Counties which Darby represents in the Tennessee House of Representatives.
“Broadband internet has become essential in our daily lives,” said Rep. Darby. “In 2021, internet access is essential for Tennesseans from receiving a proper education during the pandemic to maintaining a successful career from home.”
“I’m excited to see government and private business coming together to make an impact,” he added. “I applaud Charter’s efforts, and I can’t wait to see more Tennesseans have access to such a crucial resource.”
